Summer
It's summer and the garden beckons us to get outside and enjoy.

Summer Flowers
We have been growing petunias, surfinias, fuchsias, geraniums, gazanias, marigolds, verbena, lobelia, begonia, cosmos and so many more.
Time is marching on so our selection in the polytunnel is reducing but there is still plenty if you want a splash of colour to brighten a bare spot.
Lots of new ideas to keep your garden looking fresh.
We are always stocking new items for the garden and it would be hard to list them all but we’d love to welcome you to wander around our nursery to see what we have. This year we have new suppliers of garden mirrors, obelisks and garden decorations.
Hanging Baskets
The most fun job at this time of year is planting up summer hanging baskets and containers. You might even like to try making a basket for strawberries or tumbling tomatoes. We sell a variety of baskets, round, cone shaped, wire, wicker and decorated. We also have planted some up for sale on the basket tree by our potting shed or in the polytunnel.
You can watch the video below for Ruth’s tips on how to create a beautiful hanging basket. If your basket is in the shade there is also a video for a summer shady basket. Just check out the gardening tips page here on our website.

Tips for making your own baskets
Baby birds fledging at the nursery
So far this spring we have had a nest of 11 Great Tits fledge. They were in the nest box beside the porch and seemed oblivous to all the customers. We hope you enjoyed watching them live on the screen by the till as much as we did! Those poor parents looked rather tired and scruffy by the end. We think they deserve a break! We also had a blackbirds nest where we have the hanging baskets.

Monica raising money for St Elizabeth Hospice
Many of you know Monica – she is quite a legend in Kesgrave. She has been raising money for St Elizabeth Hospice by sewing and selling masks. Now that we do not need masks so much she has branched out and is making cloth bags, scrunchies, peg bags and dog bandannas using her, seemingly endless, selection of beautiful materials. So far she has nearly raised £1000 in our shop . . . . .but overall she has been able to donate nearly £4000 to the hospice. Thank you to our customers for your support and well done Monica!
